February 26, 2021 Letter to all our St. Anne School Families (Update)

February 26, 2021

Dear St. Anne School and Preschool Academy Families,

We want to thank our great teachers, students, and School families for all their hard work in making this week of emergency remote learning possible. On Wednesday of this week, a structural engineer spent many hours here on campus examining our St. Anne Church and School building. Per his recommendations, another wooden support column was built today (Friday) under another cracked roof beam located above the Church altar. Once again, we are very grateful to the construction workers for their timely help in accomplishing this.

This afternoon, we had two separate conference calls with various representatives from our Diocese. In these conversations we shared our most up-to-date information about the nature of our situation as well as our ardent desire to return to in-person classroom instruction as soon as possible. While the School building itself does not appear to show signs of damage related to the roof beams that had cracked in the Church, there unfortunately remain some unresolved concerns about the structural safety of our School building. Hence, per the guidance of our Diocese, we will resume in-person instruction offsite as soon as arrangements can be finalized and until the concerns about the structural safety of our Church and School building can be resolved. In all these conversations and deliberations, the safety of our students, staff, and parishioners remains of paramount importance. With the help of our Diocese, we will continue to work toward resolving these safety concerns.

While alternative arrangements are being finalized for offsite instruction, we will begin this upcoming week with remote learning. We will promptly communicate with you any updates about these alternative arrangements as well as any resolution to the current concerns about the structural safety of our St. Anne Church and School building. Per the guidance of our Diocese, no Church or School activities will take place at our Church and School building until these concerns are resolved. While we sincerely share your disappointment about not being able to resume classes onsite, we hope that this unprecedented situation will further solidify our bonds as a Parish and School community, centered in our faith in Jesus Christ. Through God’s strength, our community is stronger than even the physical structure in which we gather to worship, to pray, and to learn.
