I was raised in a large Catholic family in Paris, IL. Being part of a farming family was a wonderful way to grow up! After attending St. Mary's School for my elementary years and then Paris High School, I received my BS in Education from Eastern Illinois University. The majority of my teaching experience has been with first graders and in Catholic education. I've been at St. Anne School since the mid 90's when my two children and I both joined the school and parish family.
Second to being with the students and getting to know them, I especially love teaching phonics in the classroom. I find it exciting to watch emerging readers use what that have taken from the Saxon program and make it their own. A first grader's mind is like a sponge! Each of those sponges soaks up a little differently and at different rates.
We never say "can't". We do say "I am trying".
