Classes Suspended Through at Least April 8th, 2020.

At 3pm today, March 20th, 2020, Gov. Pritzker announced a “shelter-in-place” initiative for the State of Illinois through April 7, 2020.  During this time, people are asked to stay at home and avoid any unnecessary travel outside within the community. He assured all residents of the state that grocery, gas, hospitals, and other essential services would remain open.

This is not much different than we have been doing with our children this past week.  This will undoubtedly create some panic, but in reality not much has changed from what your children probably have experienced this past week. What has changed is our target date to return to school, which is now April 8.

eLearning and Distance Learning will not occur during spring break week.  However, eLearning/Distance Learning will begin again on March 30, 2020. There will be no material pick up due to the "shelter-in-place" order.  Teachers will be sending assignments via email, class DoJo, or by other means.  If you have any difficulties communicating with your child's teacher, please let me know.

Please be secure in the fact that ELearning/Distance Learning is in place in accordance with the Illinois State Board of Education and Governor’s recommendations as well as a directive from the Diocese of Rockford.  We would much rather have all students safely back at school but until that time, we are committed to your child(ren). Please let me type and expand on that. St. Anne School is committed to the academic education, advancement, and safety of your child(ren).

Teachers have already been bouncing ideas off each other in group chat.  We are exploring additional ways to electronically reach out (such as a program called Zoom, YouTube videos, etc.).

During this difficult time I know everyone’s stress level has kicked up a notch. Many questions are prevalent and some of those we do not have answers to at this time.  What we do have is the ability to help our child(ren) grow and continue to invest in them.

Moving forward, please reach out to me with any questions/concerns/needs you may have.  I am both honored and privileged to pledge my very best efforts in providing for you and your families.

I offer my nightly prayers to all the families of St. Anne School,

Mr. Michael J. Armato
